She studied in an all-girls private boarding school called Lady Eleanor Holles in Hampton, Middlesex.

Vanessa applied to study acting at the prestigious Bristol Old Vic Theatre School but was turned down for admission which made her take some time off and travel to South Africa for a year.

Upon her return, she enrolled in the University of Exeter for a Bachelor’s in English Literature that she successfully completed in first division (Scoring an aggregate from 70% – 100% equivalent to 3.7-4.00 GPA in the USA)

Student productions seasoned her presence on the stage which got her a place in The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) after finishing college.

But before she could join LAMDA, Vanessa also signed up with a talent agency and met theatre director, David Thacker. He gave her a starring role in three of his stage productions meant to be performed at the Octagon Theatre in Bolton, Greater Manchester.

Vanessa accepted the offer which officially kickstarted her acting career in 2009. She never joined LAMDA and studied her craft on the job.
